PREFACE
This handbook has evolved from the original used to train retinal screening nurses (part-time photographers, part-time first level graders) and second level graders in Grampian in 2002. It has been expanded to cover the syllabus recommended by the training committee sub-group of the Scottish Executive Health Department Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Implementation Group. It is hoped that this handbook will provide the relevant information to enable retinal screeners and graders to perform their tasks to the highest professional levels.
